2011 Season Fund Raisers

Over the years, our Swim-Along has proven to be our most effective way to raise money to support the team and keep our fees the same for the past 9 years. In addition, we have some other small fund raisers that some of our parents have executed and have become team traditions.
If anyone has any ideas for fund raisers we could use this year or in the future, please let us know.

2011 Swim-Along
Our Swim-Along has become an annual fixture for the team and was to be held on Monday, June 27th this year. Unfortunately, the nature of the event requires we have a "window" in the weather to allow the swimmers to complete their swims.
The weather on that Monday didn't cooperate and we had to
Re-schedule the Swim-Along for Tuesday, July 5th.
This fund raiser works much like walk-a-thons, bike-a-thons, etc, in that the swimmers solicit pledges for every lap the can swim in a 90 minute period. Once they do their swim on that evening, they then go back and collect the pledges and turn them in to the team.
All pledges should be recorded on the included Sponsor’s Form. Please try to get the donor to fill out the line completely with their name, address and the amount they are pledging per length or the lump sum they are donating. Don’t forget to ask your out-of-town relatives and friend to support your efforts. If they are willing, you can fill out the form for them. A good way to collect the pledge is to send them a “thank you” note with the number of lengths you swam and the amount of their pledge. Often, the swimmers that collect the most pledges are the ones who remember to call their “Grandma in Kalamazoo” and their “Uncle Fred in Walla Walla” for their support.
The early group swimmers will go from 5:15 until 6:45 p.m. and the
late group swimmers will swim from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. You will need to be ready to begin at the
designated time. If you cannot make your designated time, check with the coaches for an alternative.
If you are unable to attend on Tuesday, July 5th, we will designate a lane or two on Wednesday, July
6th
& Monday, July 11th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for make-up swims.

Please bring the Sponsor’s Form with you the night you do your swim. The coaches will fill in how many lengths you swim and initial the form that night so you can begin collecting your pledges right away. If you happen to remember someone who would support you after the swim, you may still get their donation/pledge at that time. We need all the pledges collected and submitted by the end of practice on Wednesday, July 20th in order to be prepared for the banquet (although we no longer give any free meals away).
We will need parents to volunteer to serve as counters the night of the swim. We like to have at least one for every 6 to 8 swimmers. If any Moms or Dads would like to count, just come that night and we’ll explain what you need to do at that time. Also, any parent that would like to contribute any baked goodies for the swimmers, please bring it to the pool that night. The team will have a large “cooler” of ice water for the swimmers’ to drink and there may be a special cake for someone’s birthday that night.
Finally, even if you don’t participate in the fund raising portion of this (and everybody should), your workout that night is the 90 minute swim – so come prepared!

Spaghetti Psych Up Dinner & Other Fund Raisers
