A Parent's Guide to Surviving the Summer Swim Season
Blue Dolphin Team Rules
In addition to the RCSL rules for how competitions are held and how swimmers become eligible to swim in the League, we have a set of rules that we must follow. Because we are fortunate enough to be able to rent the facility at JCDS, we must be very careful to follow their rules for the pool and school to be assured of continued use of the pool.
The RCSL rules include a "Code of Conduct" for athletes, coaches and parents and this code is printed with the RCSL Registration Form. When you sign this form for your swimmer, you are certifying that you have read and will abide by this code so please be certain to read this information before submitting the form.
One rule that applies at all times for team activities is NO SMOKING OR CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL ON A POOL DECK DURING A PRACTICE OR MEET OR ANYWHERE SWIMMERS MIGHT BE. For our purposes, this means anywhere on the JCDS grounds and all of our members - coaches, swimmers and their families. Remember, our children look to us to set examples for them.

Jacksonville Country Day School Rules
Unlike most of the other teams in the League, the Blue Dolphins are NOT affiliated with any country club or civic association. Being an "independent" organization, we are free to structure our team in the manner that best suits our swimmers' needs but no outside group helps support us. We pay Jacksonville Country Day School (JCDS) a pool rental fee, supply and maintain our own equipment and purchase our own insurance, supplies, etc.
We believe we are very fortunate to have JCDS supply the facility at such a reasonable cost and want to do everything possible to keep the relationship mutually beneficial.
The school will be completing a major construction project right next to the pool this summer; in light of this, it is very important that we follow a few simple rules:
-
No food inside the fenced pool area or locker rooms (attracts ants, bees, etc). Please eat in the
designated picnic areas outside the pool.
THIS ESPECIALLY MEANS THE CONSTRUCTION AREA, GYM, PLAY GROUND & EQUIPMENT!! - No glass containers inside the fenced pool area, locker rooms or concrete terrace and sidewalks.
- No one OVER five (5) years old is allowed in the wading pool. All others must be under the supervision of a parent.
- No swimmers in the lifeguard stand at any time.
- No running inside the pool area; no pushing or other "horseplay" anywhere on the school grounds.
- No diving into the pool unless under a COACH'S supervision.
- All trash must be placed in the proper trash receptacles provided by JCDS (in the past, this chore has seemed to fall to the coaches and a few nice volunteers - let's all help out this year!).
- All team members MUST remain within the pool area (the fenced pool and the locker rooms). The school is allowing us to rent this area and there is no reason for any of our members to “roam” the grounds or use other areas of the school.

Team Rules for ALL Meets:
The following team rules should be followed for ALL meets:
- Please notify the coaches THROUGH THIS WEB SITE OR IN WRITING if your swimmers are going to miss a meet as soon as possible. This allows the coaches to plan the meet line-up (particularly relays) to the team's best advantage.
- Please arrive at all meets at least 10 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START TIMES LISTED HEREIN for warm-up and to allow the coaches to verify their line-ups.
- Do not leave a meet EARLY without checking with the coaches first - you may be needed for a relay!!
- Please always try to treat your teammates, coaches and parents with respect and to exhibit good sportsmanship at all times (THIS INCLUDES CLEANING UP YOUR AND THE TEAM’S AREAS AFTERWARDS!).
